Review of BAT Reference document for Waste Treatments Closing date is Friday 21st March 2014

The European IPPC Bureau publishes a range of reference documents on Best Available Techniques (commonly known as Bref Documents or Brefs).

• A review of the reference document on Best Available Techniques for waste treatments (WT Bref) has commenced.
• The Bureau will be assisted by a technical working group (TWG) comprising representatives from the EU member states, industry and non-governmental organisations.
• In order to assist in the review of the WT Bref the TWG will facilitate an exchange of relevant information on best available techniques between TWG members and the Bureau.
• The EPA will be representing Ireland on the TWG and there are also Irish and European industry representatives on the TWG.

A major part of the information exchange process will be the gathering of data from ‘well-performing’ facilities/installations across Ireland (and the EU).

The EPA have prepared a circular for more detail on the project.
